MTA MALAYSIA 2010, one of Malaysia’s largest metalworking exhibitions had a successful showing at the Putra World Trade Centre recently.
Notably, the RM700 million forecasted sales target was achieved, thanks to the faster than expected recovery in the domestic economy which led to stronger participation from industry players. In total the 1,200 companies from 22 countries/regions, which included six country/region pavilions, took up an additional 33% of exhibition space to 30,000 sq metres. Foreign participation accounted for 55% of participating companies who displayed over RM350 million worth of products
Trade visitors from around the Asia Pacific region also increased to almost 22,000 from 17,371 the previous year. The trade professionals and visitors alike were able to benefit greatly from the product seminars organized by key exhibitors on some of the latest specialized process and precision engineering machinery, machine tools and metalworking technology in the market. Among the visitors were State chapters from the Malaysian Foundry and Engineering Industries Associations from South Johor, Perak, Melaka, Kluang, Batu Pahat and Penang.
The showcase of the latest machinery and technology incorporated Metrology Malaysia 2010 (7th Malaysia International Precision Measurement & Testing Exhibition); Subcon Malaysia 2010 (7th Malaysia Contract Manufacturing & Subcontracting Exhibition) and ToolTec Malaysia 2010 (2nd Malaysia International Exhibition of Tools & Tooling Technology).
Co-located with MTA MALAYSIA 2010 was METALTECH 2010 and a joint opening ceremony was officiated by Dato’ Jacob Dungau Sagan, the Deputy Minister of International Trade & Industry.
METALTECH and MTA MALAYSIA 2010 were endorsed by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, Tourism Malaysia and SIRIM Berhad. The exhibitions are also supported by SME Corporation Malaysia, Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA), Penang Foundry and Engineering Industries Association (PENFEIA), German Machine Tool Builders Association (VDW), Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in cooperation with AUMA Association of the German Trade Fair Industry, Engineering Industries Association (EIA), Malaysia’s Hardware, Machinery & Building Materials Dealers’ Association (MHMBA), Malaysia Mould & Die Association (MMADA), National Institute of Compressed Air Malaysia Berhad (NICAM), Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation (SMA), Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA), Small and Medium Enterprises Association (SAMENTA), Selangor and Federal Territory Machinery Merchants Association (SAFMA), Singapore Precision Engineering and Tooling Association (SPETA), Welding Institute (Malaysia) Berhad (WIM), and Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA).
METALTECH and MTA MALAYSIA 2010 were the most anticipated events for manufacturers and metal industry players from around the world to showcase and source for metal work, machine tools, CAD / CAM, metrology, mould & die, surface & heat treatment, sub-contracting, foundry, industrial automation, robotics, precision engineering and welding technology and products.
